T-Mobile, the T-Mobile Foundation, and Ashoka Name Chicago’s Eden Wilson of Lemonerdy University a 2023 Changemaker Challenge Finalist
CHICAGO — July 25, 2023 – Eden Wilson, a 17-year-old senior from Whitney Young Magnet High School is ready to change the world for the better with Lemonerdy University. The initiative is one of 15 finalists of the fifth Changemaker Challenge, a nationwide contest hosted by T-Mobile, the T-Mobile Foundation, and the nonprofit Ashoka.
The competition calls for youth leaders ages 13 to 18 located in the U.S. or Puerto Rico to build more connected, sustainable, and equitable communities. These individuals and teams with big and bold ideas competed for a chance to win seed money and mentorship for longer-term support of their project.

We are building the only learning platform whose primary goals are modeling diversity, kids teaching kids, and paying fair wages. Sibling co-founders, Eden and David Wilson will receive an all-expenses paid trip to T-Mobile’s headquarters and seed funding to supercharge their endeavors. They will also receive mentorship from T-Mobile executives, skills training, and networking opportunities during a three-day immersive Changemaker Lab.
As the Digital Empowerment Category winner, Lemonerdy University will receive an additional $5,000 in seed funding and the chance to pitch their projects to T-Mobile senior leaders for the chance to receive another $5,000 at the Changemaker Challenge Lab, plus one-on-one time with a T-Mobile senior leader who will provide additional guidance on how they can grow their venture – and continue changing the world. Lemonerdy University is a peer-to-peer education platform with courses taught by a diverse team of youth instructors. Youth of varying experience levels learn production skills and plan and create STEM courses, all while being paid a fair hourly wage for their work. The T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge is developed and executed in partnership with Ashoka, a nonprofit that has over 20 years of experience supporting social change ventures with youth. Past winners tackled issues like mental health, climate change, and gun violence.
